To obtain a cylindrical bearing surface when mounted, the bearing surface is machined 0.01 mm conically.

The bearing bushing has an outer diamter of 54.10 mm and inner diameter of 46.01 - 46.015 mm;

this will "shrink" to 46.00 mm when fitted in the final drive housing with the required press fit.

If the housing is worn to the extend that a press fit cannot be obtained anymore, it will result in a larger tolerance on the needle bearing of the driving dog.

The minimum required tolerance on this bearing is 0.03 mm. Normal tolerance is 0.05 mm. Maximum acceptable tolerance is 0.08 mm.

The bearing race of the original BMW driving dog has a diameter of 39.97 mm.
